Reimagining the lives of homeless mothers and their children, together

A STEP in the Right Direction

The Hearts of Gold Summer Teen Enrichment Program (HoG STEP) is a 5-week intensive summer educational program with a dual mission to introduce children of mothers currently cycling through the system of homelessness and poverty to an array of cultural activities in New York City, Connecticut & Philadelphia as well as to widen the horizons around their educational pursuits. Meeting five days per week from 10:30am to 5 :00pm, children ages 11 through 16 have the opportunity to experience such cultural activities as guided tours of local museums, dining in ethnic restaurants, attending theater productions and experiencing onsite corporate environments. With an aim to improve each child's scholastic standing, STEP offers SAT preparation course work tutoring for children 13-15 and campus tours of select colleges in New York and neighboring states.
